Weekly Grist Gallery, a cool country barn
An old barn up close and personal
I found this old barn July 3, 2010 in Grant County, Arkansas. I promised the owners I would not reveal the location past that. They agreed to let me wander through the old structure at will. The old barn is full of stuff, some of which probably hassome good value. Since the owners are elderly, and live close by, I agreed not to advertise the location to those who might want to grab stuff from the barn under less than honorable circumstances. You will also see a donkey and a couple of old churches I stumbled across on a earlier trip in the same general neighborhood. See the original story of this barn at Corndancer dot-com and Weekly Grist for the Eyes and Mind.

The old barn from the highway. The sheds on the front were not part of the original structure.

Same view, slightly different angle.

The next several views are a walk around from front to back.

A feeding shed on the back. The feeding trough is a hollowed out log.

A room off the main floor seen in the previous pictures. I had to contort to get this shot, thus the angle. The machine in the background is a hand-crank pea sheller.

A close up of the sheller.

Passage way and room at the back of the barn. This room is across from the pea sheller room.

Look at that ass.

A pit dug in the barn by an immature ant lion, otherwise known as a doodle bug. The unfortunate ant slides down the pit to become a snack for the doodle bug. The diameter of the pit is about the size of a quarter or perhaps a bit less.
