Color correction: before and after
nfortunately we can't always control the kinds of light we encounter when shooting. We can change the white balance on digital cameras but if there are two sources of light with differing color temperatures you merely switch one problem for another by changing white balance.
In this picture of my intrepid fishing buddies, the inside of the room was illuminated by incadescent (tungsten) light, while the windows were daylight.
The camera is not smart enough to fix the problem, so that left it to us. In cases like this, color correction in Photoshop® is the answer.
We isolated the interior from the exterior and corrected the interior white balance to match the outdoor white balance. In some of the touching areas, it was necessary to blend the two sections of the picture.
